OPPO’s new phone looks like a competitor to Samsung’s low end phones, an affordable flagship for the masses. Que the OPPO A83, a direct competitor to the Galaxy A3 and J series phones. Priced at roughly Rs. 24,000, the A83 should be a good buy for selfie lovers who want a phablet.
Design, Screen and Camera
The OPPO A83 is a big phone with a 5.7-inch screen and HD+ resolution. No bezel-less display here. The pixel density of the phone equates to an OK 282ppi. Could have been better but corners have to be cut somewhere. The front camera of the A83 is an 8MP snapper and the main one is a 13MP one with an LED flash. The phone is quite thin as it measures in at 7.7mm in thickness which tends to give it a premium feel.
Hardware
The OPPO A83 comes with a measly 2GB of RAM on board, something that shouldn’t be justified even at this price point. So do expect hiccups every now and then. There is only 16GB of internal memory, but thankfully it can be expanded via a microSD card. The processor in the A83 is an octa-core one, a relatively powerful one at that, with each core running at 2.5GHz.
The phone comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and has a 3,090mAh battery that should keep you going for a day depending on frequency of usage.
