We’ve gotten word that Sony is putting the Xperia Z series to rest and instead shifting its flagships towards a new name; Xperia X series. This series has seen some excellent releases from Sony to date which include the Xperia X and X performance. We’re very excited to see another elegant yet unique release from the company in the form of the Xperia XZ. Sony’s latest flagship just took a little turn with this newbie.
The Sony Xperia XZ features for the first time what Sony refers to as a looped design. It gives a slight impression of a curved screen which actually is not the case but it definitely gives its looks a bump. The smartphone features what we know as ALKALEIDO build material which is a form of an alloy that looks more polished, smooth and stronger than plastic or normal alloys.
When taking its display into account, the Sony Xperia XZ features a 5.2 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 424ppi pixel density. Sony has never been greedy with pixel densities and this flagship’s installed ppi allows for a beautiful 1080p display. It will also feature Corning Gorilla Glass protection but it’s still early doors to tell which version it will be.
We’ve talked about Sony not being greedy with its pixel densities and the same can be said of its cameras as well. This big fella’s primary camera features a new IMX300 23 megapixel sensor which, according to Sony, is an altogether new type whose sole purpose is to minimize the difference between what you see through your eyes and what you see through the Xperia XZ’s camera.
Its selfie camera seems like a primary camera in itself due to its hunky 13 megapixel sensor and Steady Shot technology.
The Xperia XZ’s flagship prowess is further demonstrated through its powerful processing capabilities. It houses a mixed Quad-Core processor with 3GB of RAM. We did expect Sony to stuff 4GB of RAM this time around in its flagship but we’re highly optimistic about the Xperia XZ giving the built-in Android Marshmallow a run for its money which reportedly can be upgraded to the upcoming Android Nougat.
It comes in 32 or 64GB internal storage variants capped off by dust and waterproof technology, fingerprint sensor and Quick Charge 3.0.
