There are many experiments in terms of specs of phones that have given birth to many different segments in the phone price spectrum. The Vivo X20 Plus UD is one such example. With a price tag of roughly Rs. 60,000, the Vivio X20 Plus UD has traits of both flagships and mid rangers, which is why its position in the mobile segment is uncertain. Still, let’s take a further look into this uniquely spec’d phone.
The Vivo X20 is not a very tall phone, despite having a gargantuan screen. Thanks to the 18:9 display factors of today, this large screen could be accommodated within the size limits. The phone uses the front glass/back aluminum construction pattern for the premium feel.
Above the screen is the front facing camera and regular sensors along with the earpiece. On the back, is the main dual camera setup and LED flash. What about the fingerprint sensor? No sensor on the front or back? Well that’s because the Vivo X20 Plus UD is the first phone with a fingerprint sensor under the display. That’s right, an in-glass fingerprint reader. If that isn’t crazy good, we don’t know what is.
The screen is what most of the Vivo X20 Plus UD is made up of, because there’s 6.43 inches of it. With an increasingly popular resolution of FHD+, the Vivo X20 Plus UD has a 376ppi pixel density. What’s weird is that for such a high price, one would expect a 2k screen. This is one of the reasons the Vivo X20 Plus UD feels like a midranger. The display itself is a Super AMOLED one, meaning you’ll get a lot of saturated colors and visually pleasing results.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD has a total of 3 cameras, one on the front and two on the back. The main camera setup comprises of a 12MP f/1.8 aperture sensor and a 5MP secondary one. There is auto-focus and a LED flash for low light photography. Video recording maxes out at 1080p at 30 frames per second.
The front camera is a 12MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0, so you should be able to get some pretty decent selfies for your social media accounts. 1080p is the max video resolution you can record at.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD is a mixed bag when it comes to hardware. It has what you’d find in both flagships and midrange phones. For starters, it’s got 4GB of RAM and is run by the Snapdragon 660 processor, which is an octa-core chipset. 4 cores run at 2.2GHz and the other 4 at 1.8GHz, switching between tasks that need more juice. Now, the internal storage is where things get crazy. There are 128 gigs of internal storage and if for some reason that’s not enough, you can expand it by 256GB more by using the second sim slot.
Finally, there’s a huge 3900mAh battery to keep you going for 2 days or more depending on your usage. The Vivo X20 UD Plus comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, which is a shame since it’s already been half a year since Android 8.0 Oreo has been released.
