Haier may have just gotten into the smartphone business recently, but they are certainly pushing hard for it with all the investment into the manufacturing of the devices. They are also making some good mid-range and low-end devices and they might not be the best out there, they are certainly making up for it with some features unique to their device. At least that what they want you to know. The Esteem i70, as the name suggests, is here to boost your self-esteem. Whether it succeeds in that or not, we shall see in the specifications of the device below.
The design is a very common rectangular one that is common among a lot of the manufacturers with rounded corners. This allows them to use some good materials to keep the phone strong on the edges, namely metal which makes it look ever so sleek, according to their commercials. The phone boasts a 5” HD (720 x 1280) pixels IPS Capacitive display that is protected by Dragon Trail protection, as indicated in their advertisements. The screen supports up to 5 fingers in multi touch. It has Dual SIM support and also supports both 3G and 2G networks.
Inside the KitKat powered device is a MediaTek chipset that comes with an MT6592m 1.4 GHz processor with eight cores. It also has 1 GB of RAM to go along with it and certainly adds value to the phone’s hardware specifications. It can handle a lot of tasks with somewhat ease, however, for its price tag, they could have added a little more RAM to create an even smoother experience.
One of the fancier things is the Infrared Control in the phone like some of the flagships from some companies, it can be used to control your TVs, Air conditioners etc. that make use of Infrared remote controls. Another thing is the usage of gestures to unlock the device. They do add a certain level of exclusivity to an otherwise pretty average-ish phone.
In terms of Camera, the phone has a 13 megapixel camera on the rear and a 5 megapixel camera on the front. Both cameras perform as a mid-ranger should but can fall short at most of the times and is certainly nowhere near in performance as shown in the advertisement, as is the case with any device. It is powered by a 2300 mAh battery that is respectable but could’ve used a bit more amperage to last longer because after some usage the phone will hardly last a day upon regular usage of 3G.
