2016 has been a stellar year for many smartphone manufacturers. Samsung has shifted gears by upgrading almost all of its smartphones series whilst others such as Lenovo and Motorola are on a resurgence of sorts to regain their lost prowess in the smartphone sphere. Their merger some time ago has allowed the two tech-giants to combine powers and the Lenovo Moto Z Play is a fine example of what the two companies can do when working in tandem. It is related to the Moto Z.
Build quality and display
The two tech giants have emphasized equally upon aesthetics as well as raw power. We’ll focus more on the aesthetics first. This particular smartphone features a not so typical Motorola design which can be attributed to its merger with Lenovo. That being said, the device features a premium mixture of build materials which include a metal frame separating the front panel and the glass back panel.
The smartphone features dust and splash-proofing which technically means you should not plan on dropping it in water. Its dimensions are excellent as well complimented by its 7mm width and 165g weight. We can tell you this that 7mm width for a waterproof phone is jaw-dropping to say the least.
Its display houses a 5.5 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 403ppi pixel density. This allows 1080p HD resolution that produces some of the most clear and crisp graphics.
Cameras
Lenovo and Motorola are putting a lot of muscle into their smartphones’ cameras and the Lenovo Moto Z Play is another testament to that. With a large 16 megapixel primary sensor with phase detection and laser autofocus plus a selfie camera with a comparatively smaller but powerful 5 megapixel sensor, the Lenovo Moto Z Play is more than adequate for your everyday needs.
Hardware and software
The smartphone is powered a 2.0 GHz Octa-Core processor with 3GB of RAM. The Android Marshmallow will run as fine as ever while the fingerprint scanner and USB type-C ensure that the smartphone stays in touch with all the modern smartphone requirements. Its internal storage banks at 64 gigs while also containing an external memory card slot. A non-removable 3510 mAh battery resides underneath the back panel while you can purchase the device in only black or white color schemes.
