Nokia’s revival continues with the Nokia 2. Or does it? The smartphone’s one of the toned-down devices in the Nokia Android series with little specs to appease the tech-savvy public. However, the device aims to give a tough time to its entry-level counterparts with the device commanding a launching price-tag of 15,000 rupees and expected to hit our shelves come mid-October 2017.
If there’s one thing Nokia’s always done superbly ever since its existence is the provision of superb build quality in all of its devices; the Nokia 2 follows suit by providing an excellent all metal build of its own with a fine aluminum frame separating the front and back panels. Unfortunately, its dimensions do not go with its looks as they’re a tad bulky.
The Nokia 2 features quite an identical display to the iPhone 7 when it comes to its quantitative side of things; by featuring a 4.7 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 312ppi pixel density, it does feature a tad smaller sized display then what most people would’ve hoped for while qualitatively, the display’s not really comparable to the aforementioned iPhone at all.
In a price-bracket where many Meizu, Xiaomi, Oppo etc. devices are punching well above their weight by providing superb camera sensors, things do not look all that rosy for the well-trimmed Nokia 2. The smartphone features a plain 8 MP primary sensor with only customary camera features to show for its prowess such as geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection etc.
The selfie sensor on the other hand can be called as adequate because of its 5 MP muscle. However everyone, including us, expected more from Nokia than a set of a 5 megapixel selfie and 8 MP primary sensors. Seems a bitter pill to swallow but we’d do like to remind you of Nokia’s mobile cameras prowess!
The hardware category follows suit to the cameras department by featuring underpowered schematics; the smartphone is powered by a quad-core processor with a miser amount of RAM at 1GB. Running Android Nougat, the processing power will most likely fall short of the requirements of this bulky OS. 8GB of internal storage is further bad news while on the other hand, a non-removable 4000 mAh battery promises to produce superb battery timing subject to usage frequency that is.
Other than these, there really isn’t much to talk about as the Nokia 2’s devoid of much features except for the customary memory card-slot and two colour schemes namely Black and White.
That brings an end to a rather disappointing budget smartphone from Nokia and we’d recommend you to look elsewhere before setting your heart on this one!
