OPPO just released the F5 come November 2017, but that’s not stopping it from flooding the market with more quality devices. Being a refreshment to the few months prior R11 series, the R11s duo brings higher resolution 18:9 displays and better cameras. We’ll be looking into the more expensive version of the two, the R11s Plus, which will cost you roughly Rs. 60,000.
The OPPO R11s Plus is an upgrade to the R11 Plus, a phone just a few months old. Naturally, there aren’t any drastic changes save for the new lager 18:9 display which takes up almost the entire front of the phone. Obviously, it’s still encased in a metal unibody, giving off that premium feel and then some. Above the tall screen is a monstrous 20MP camera, a resolution higher than most phones’ main cameras. Towards the middle on the back is the fingerprint scanner, and above it is the 16MP + 20MP dual camera setup which is quite similar to that of the iPhone 8 Plus.
Not having an 18:9 display upper midrange phone in 2017 seems like death wish for most manufacturers and OPPO is following suite. The R11s features a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2160x1080, also known as FHD+, which equates to a pixel density of 375ppi; a little less than its predecessor. To protect this beauty of a screen, a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is spread across it, providing maximum durability.
To be specific, the main cameras are huge: a dual 20MP + 16MP pair. The 20MP sensor has an aperture of f/2.6 with normal autofocus and is used mainly during low light areas, whereas the 16MP one has a f/1.7 aperture with phase detection auto focus which will be utilized more in everyday photography. The R11s can record 4k videos at 30 frames per second without any trouble.
The front selfie camera is a larger than life 20MP one with an aperture of f/2.0 and video recording capability of 1080p at 30 fps.
After establishing how beautiful the phone and screen are, and how great the cameras are, it’s time for the hardware. Starting right off the bat is the Snapdragon 660 processor, Qualcomm’s best midrange chipset. The Snapdragon 660 is a power efficient beast that allows the R11 to support the monster cameras it has without as much as breaking a sweat.
Even though 4GB of RAM is more than enough for Android phone nowadays, OPPO decided to grace the R11s Plus with 6GB of it. With Android 7.1.1 Nougat pre-loaded, customers of this phone will never have to worry about lag ever again. With 64GB of memory on board and the option to expand it up to 256GB, storage is not going to be a problem when you buy this phone. To top it all off is a bigger battery than its predecessors and the R11s, a massive 4000mAh one to keep your phone active for more than a day at least.
