Unexpectedly, Sony released two new phones in India with both of them being made in India. The slightly expensive version of the two phones, the Xperia R1 Plus, seems like a much better buy since both phones are almost identical. Priced at roughly Rs. 25,000, the Xperia R1 Plus is not a bad buy.
Xperia R1 Twin…. literally
The Xperia R1 Plus is a literal copy of the Xperia R1 in every essence of the word. It has the same block design, same screen and even same dimensions! That means it has a 5-inch 720p display equating to a below average pixel density of 282ppi. A 2.5D curved glass allows the screen to lie flush with the body of the phone.
Camera
The front camera of the Xperia R1 Plus is an 8MP one with predictive phase detection auto focus, so you don’t have to manually select what part you want to focus on. Similarly, the main camera is a 13MP one with predictive phase detection auto focus on board too. Video recording caps out at 1080P.
Hardware
The difference between the two phones is seen in the internals. The sole difference is the RAM and on board storage. With 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, the Xperia R1 Plus is a much better buy than the Xperia R1 since it’s only a couple of thousand rupees apart. The same Snapdragon 430 processor powers the R1 Plus too and the battery is a feeble 2620mAh one, so don’t expect more than a day on single charge.
